Parrot Cookies with Nutriberry Crumbs

Tails wagging from Texas! Our puppies aren't the only animals in the family, and we try to spoil our feathered friends too. Our parrots love nutriberries, but when we finish a package we end up with lots of crumbs and seeds at the bottom. Instead of throwing it out, I decided to bake them into cookies. Here's how!

 You Will Need:
- 1 Cup Millet Flour
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Flour
- 1 Cup Nutriberry Crumbs (or a parrot-approved seed mix)
- 1 TBSP Red Palm or Coconut Oil
- 1 Large Egg
- 1/4 Cup Canned Pumpkin or Baked Sweet Potato
- 1/4 Cup Water

We Also Added (optional):
- 1 TBSP Flax Seed
- 1 TBSP Quinoa
- 1 TBSP Herb Salad
*If you have other healthy ingredients on hand, go ahead and throw them in! This is just what we happened to have in stock.

How They're Made:
1. Preheat oven to 350F
2. Combine dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
3. Add egg, oil and pumpkin and knead well. Add in water gradually until dough is perfect. Our dough was a little crumbly but rolled out nicely without sticking. Use a rolling pin and cookie cutter or roll dough into 1/2 inch balls in your hands.
4. Bake for about 20 minutes until dry in the middle but not browned at the edges.
5. Let cookies cool on the counter. Store in the fridge and enjoy!

Our yellow naped Amazon, Greenleaf, is nervous about new treats, but our hybrid conure Eva took to these right away! Just like with real nutriberries, she enjoys digging through the treat and finding the best morsels. This recipe made about 60 large treats, which will last our little flock a long time!
