Peanut Butter Rice Flour Treats with Carob

Tails wagging from Texas...let's bake some treats!

Today we're making some special occasion treats. One of Katara's good dog friends is having a birthday and we thought we'd show up to the puppy play date with something special. Most dogs love peanut butter and rice flour is easier on the tummies than wheat flour. We threw in flax seeds for added benefits (and cuteness) and some are even getting dipped in carob. Let's get started!

Getting started...

You Will Need:
- 2 cups brown rice flour
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup milk
*We used cow's milk, but you can use goat's milk if your dog has issues with dairy
- 1 large egg
- 1 TBSP flax seeds (optional)
- 1/2 cup carob chips

All done! We promise the dogs won't mind if they look less than perfect.

How They're Made:
1.) Preheat oven to 350F
2.) Combine the flour, peanut butter, egg and flax seed. Mix to begin forming your dough.
3.) Add milk gradually until your dough is perfect. You want it a little sticky but not crumbly or soggy.
4.) Roll out the dough and use your favorite cookie cutter. To make it easier, use saran wrap to keep the dough from sticking to the rolling pin.
5.) Put cookies on a greased oven sheet and bake for about 25 minutes.
6.) (Optional) Melt carob chips in the microwave in 10 second intervals until melted. Dip your cookies in the carob or use the carob to make designs.
7.) Let cookies cool on the counter or in the fridge if you dipped them in carob. Store in the fridge and enjoy!

Luka didn't get any treats today because his tummy was upset this morning with a few pudding poos and we had to run to the vet. Everything's fine, it just means more for Katara and friends!

For me?

Nom!
